Church Fakra Club

Church of Fakra (1985):

The chapel, constructed from a cube of natural stone, embodies the essence of a traditional Lebanese chapel. Positioned to face east, the structure symbolizes the source of humanity’s redemption, aligning with the sunrise along the primary diagonal axis from east to west. Along this axis are carefully placed elements that represent stages of spiritual journey: the cross, the bell tower, and ultimately the tramontane.

The cross itself is uniquely crafted from two intersecting crosses, designed to be visible from any direction, symbolizing the omnipresence of faith. This open layout, created by the intersecting axes, serves not only as a space of spiritual connection but also as a gathering area for youth informational meetings.

Inside, two lateral entrances converge towards the bell tower, forming a Y shape aligned with the church’s main diagonal. Along these entry paths stand monolithic stone sculptures, each featuring a grain millstone, evoking symbolism rooted in tradition. Together, these design elements create an experience that is both visually striking and deeply connected to Lebanese cultural heritage.
