Dictionary of Architecture** Raoul Verney was part of the generation of architects in the 1950s-1960s who believed that modernity heralded a better future. Regarded as one of the greatest masters of exposed concrete, some of his works also used stone to explore the material’s strength. His use of geometry was strict and rigorous, yet the forms he shaped demonstrated the craftsmanship that transcended rational technique, transforming it into a poetry of forms, volumes, and living spaces.
